I met Doc at the service today, he looks after the WW2 artifacts laying around and collected at Long
Airstrip,

The frame below was used for transporting ..I think he said 130Lb Bombs.

The cannister was for launching Rockets, the hollow end would have contained a propellant.

Toilet right anyhow.

Hi Doug,
as I observed before, if they were
toilets, then they look like they were designed to stop people sitting there too long!
At least you get to have a chat with your mates while passing (the time)!
And certainly not conducive to codgitating...

Well done Doug.
Now I wonder why nobody in officialdom recognized the
toilets ?
Obviously they didn't requisition any, and had to fashion some in between flying and getting bombed ? LOL

Hey Footy
It's amazing how our Service People had to improvise, and make do
with what was at hand, makes you wonder what they used for
Toot Paper, besides the Courier Mail lol lol .

One might imagine there would be enough paperwork from GHQ around. Probably earmarked for that very purpose by the "troops". Probably plenty of copies of the Stars and Stripes around also.
I don't think I'd fancy going to do my morning/evening ablutions around those cans...imagine the wildlife!!
My wife's uncle was digging trenches (AIF) when
Darwin was bombed. They looked up and saw the shiny formations and thought "You beaut, the Yanks have arrived." Sadly that wasn't the case.
And the thought has just struck me.......I wonder if they were actually digging air raid trenches or
toilet pits ?
