Well, after alot of calling and checking out websites i finnaly will take the plundge and get a PWR performance radiator.
Now the confusion i have is the one suggested is a 2 core aluminium radiator, Drew said it has larger open veins which alowes greator airflow.
My 79 series 1HZ motor has 3 cores and i thought the greater the amount of cores the better the cooling. Anyone here who can alaborate on this one for me?

Next I have had my cruiser for 3 years now and done over 60 000klm. now when do i have the valve clearance done on them as the previous owner never had he tells me?
I do hear a fair bit of tapit noise at certain revs,or is that the injector pump doingt this?
Ohh if anyone is in need of a gear box off a 1hz 4.2 do let me know.
Cheers
Chris

sometimes an exhaust manifold leak sounds a bit 'ticky'

Don't know if this will help but I installed a 2 core genuine radiator out of a 79 series into my old 75 series to keep the 6.5l motor cool, it cured all my temp problems. When I measured the cores I found I had another 11m of tube exposed to the fins. The 2 core has very wide tubes and being made by Nippon Denso you know you get a top product. I tried a desert cooler radiator but all it was good for was scrap metal

Hav a good one

Chris although the PWR radiator is only a 2 core the size of the tubes is 25mm for each tube versus a copper brass tube size of either 12mm or 16mm.
We use the same PWR or Adrad cores on some very high horsepower supercharged Chev big block street rod radiators.
The aluminium radiator is more efficient than copper/brass though.

Usually as the engine gets older the valves get tighter, making the valve train quiter.I shimmed my cruiser at 90000kms, I doubt it had ever been done before.A couple of exhaust valves had just about no clearance and the rest were about half of specified clearance.Shimmed it all up and took it for a drive.Could not notice any differance in power or noise but I guess I saved burning a couple of valves out.

Some 1HZ engines get the 1HZ engine tick. Its normal and nothing you can do about it. Some get it and some don't. I could be wrong and correct me if I am but I think it has something to do with crankshaft flex.

I had ours done at 160K kms and that was a bid over due but that and a injector clean and tune made a heap of difference. I used West end Diesel service in Sydney and can reccommend them.
