Looking to relace the single swing away wheel carrier for the 80 series, with one of those twin swing away carriers.
Any suggestions which are the best?
Requirements are:-
1. Step wide enough to comfortably stand on to reach roof rack,
2. Solid Steel construction so as to provide some rear impact damage protection.
3. Contains High Lift Jack Points.
4. Has Holden stub type wheel bearing pivot
5. One wheel carrier "interchangeable" for extra jerry & shovel high lift jack etc holder as needed,
5. Brake & Indicator Lights incorporated to compensate for
wheels hiding the vehicle rear lights
6. Compatible with existing, Long
Ranger tank and Hayman Reece Hitch already fitted
Bonus
1 Gas strut operated swing away wheel carroers
2. Spare
wheels swing open far enough to allow tail board to drop without hitting.
Any experience with which is best?
Cheers

I have the Outback. It is the better value for what you get. I dont like any of the cheaper ones. The Kaymar looks nicer but is also more expensive. The ARB is just a sexy looking bar with all the trims. Awesome bar but I cant justify the cost. They are around the $3500 to $4000 mark I believe.

The Outback meets all the criteria you have requested, i have the 190 ltr long range rear
tank. The only problem I have is I have a
Beaudesert exhaust and the rear exhaust bracket on the exhaust needs to be modified. There is no problem with the standard exhaust.

The bar is available for around $2500 to $2700 from memory. It has everything you stated plus the gas struts and the arms swing right out. You will see the bar on the Opposite lock website. I was just on there to confirm it is the same bar. Go to the home page and plug in the vehicle make and model and then type in wheel carrier. It will bring up the same Outback twc, the same as
mine.

Not sure If your aware but they are a direct copy of the
"original Strong Arm" wheel carrier in WA.
After legal action from Strong arm the all terrain mob had to change there name because of copyright (you will find his add has changed from last year in 4 x 4 monthly).
They also make them out of a thinner gauge steel which has made them lighter but more prone to cracking.
They are also more expensive than the genuine Strongarm in WA, even with freight added (
Sydney in my case).
Flywest, I have one on my GU for all the reasons you outlined accept the gas struts which you could add yourself, and I am very happy with it.
No affiliation with Strongarm, ring them and they will set it straight just like they did with me.

Ingo,
I am not aware of such details – 1 y.a. I was on the market for double carrier and find them in
Melbourne. I am still very happy with design and service – it is very strong construction despite a bit heavy. Also I have advantage of local supplier – they modify design of
mine a bit and I can use rear bar as tow bar for small trailer. Not good for boat or caravan, but ideal for garbage trailer. Only one thing what I wish to have is “reverse”
wheels mounting where
wheels facing door, thus it makes overhang less.

When I bought
mine, all terrain were selling them as the "strongarm" so I almost purchased it from all terrain and was very happy with the service. Its was very hard to tell the difference between them (serial numbers).
In my case I lost the number so I googled it and thats when I found there was something fishy going on.
I agree with they are both a great design and I guess the only thing for others purchasing from allterrain today is the thickness of the steel they use compared to the genuine designers of the bar.
The last thing you want is to crack a weld or mount on one these heavy things, could cause a big headache off the beaten track.
