Morning all,

Just been out for a look about (as you do when the river comes up) and can advise that Tamworth has had a fair bit of rain in the past 24 hours - 160mm + at the airport and the Peel River and all of it's tributaries are up and running well. Rescue helicopters are working overtime with lots of evac work for medical reasons, SES are working their arses off (and mourning the possible loss of 1 of their members due to a flood boat mishap in the early hours of this morning). Rivers are raging with 68000 Ml's of water going down the Peel at the present.

Rain has eased right off so the waters should subside quickly and move downstream to Gunnedah and beyond, where thankfully, they have not had the drenching rain we've experienced here.

The door mat for my back door made it's way into my front yard during the night, my garage has had it's floor washed etc etc.

Time for some breakfast.

If I can remember how to do it I'll post some pic's in my blog

Cheers

Probably see the trout swimming upstream soon John !!

Good to hear that you haven't had any damage though.

G'day Dave,

Even the trout would find it hard to swim against the tide at the present. But as I look out across the floodplain to the south, the water is receeding fairly quickly. The peak has passed (only moderate level) and it is expected in Gunnedah tonight, Wee Waa area by Monday etc.

All's well apart from some damage to stuff stored down in the garage but that gets flooded whenever we get heavy rain so hoooooooohummmmm. Will open it later, move the camper out and suss it all out then.

Trust Nora and youself are both well and enjoying life.

Cheers

Hi John

Brings back some memories of the Peel in flood. I lived there a very long time ago and can remember the low lying area's being in flood.

Cheers
Dick

Hi John,

Do you have any other details of the possible loss of the SES member....a quick search online couldn't find anything.

Sad to hear if it is true.

Thanks
Andrew

Andrew

I've heard nothing on ABC radio so perhaps the report was wrong - I certainly hope so

Blame it on a Cane Toad John. I was tucked up in the truck at Moonbi last night. Bloody everywhere I have been the last few days has been soaked either just before or during my visit.

Keep dry and take care.

Regards Trevor.
