I've just been given the bad news that my 98 HiLux 2.7 petrol needs a new exhaust system!
Thinking I may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb by "She who winges every time I spend $$$ on my 4WD" does anyone have any ideas on an exhaust "upgrade" for the HiLux. Something along the lines of extractors, oversize pipes etc. I'm told the Cat. Converter is OK, but the pipes and muffler are shot.

If anyone has had this done (on a Hilux or any other 4 cylinder petrol 4WD), I'd be interested in what was done, what it cost and whether it made any difference to the overall performance of the vehicle. I'm in the Sydney area. Thanks.

Anything that breathes better runs better. Put it to her like this. If you put your hands around her throat and restrict her breathing, would it be easier or harder to vacuum the floor. The answer would have to be harder. Do it!! tell her it's a small price to pay for her partners happiness.

gday mario.
a few weeks ago i cracked the engine pipe in the patrol.
in already have sports exhaust system from engine pipe back and it made a big difference.
so i told my wife (shhhhhhhhhhhhhh) that an engine pipe fron nissan because thats the only place to get one was $300 and she nearly fell over.
but dont worry i said a new set of extractors are only $190 so we would be killing two birds with one stone.
go for it she said (got them today and ill fit them sat)
only problem was she went out today and spent the savings lol.
cant help with 4cyl 4wd but i fitted sports exhaust and extractors to our 4cyl festiva and got extra 40ks to tank and on one perticular hill we didnt have to back down to fourth gear any more
got over no fraser.
get on with life(more weekend fun)

Melissa, we spend money on important stuff. Far better value than clothes, make-up and hair cuts. LOL Cheers
