Have an old sunbeam metal frypan and need an electric cord so I can experiment with smoking some chicken.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Better off trawling the garage sales or going to a second hand/bric-a-brac store. Seen quite a few complete units for five or ten bucks.

Cheers

I reckon an old electric frypan WITHOUT the lead would be a good base for a camp oven. In other words, put hot coals in the base of the electic frypan and plonk the camp oven on top. Should save the camp table from melting or incinerating.

Trouble is, I've been trawling op-shops (many won't sell electrical items these days) and council cleanups without success.

Anyone in Sydney got an old electic frypan surplus to requirements? It doesn't have to work.

If you dont do any good in sydney I could send one for cost of freight - try a few garage sales, ebay or even the scrap metal dealers may be cheaper as i'm in Qld
I use an old Brevel slow cooker just fits a 4.5 qt camp oven sides about 150mm deep works great its cast iron a bit heavy but gee its good
let me know if you want me to lookout for one my email is in one of the posts above

Er Indoors wanted a deep frypan for just the very same reason, she put the word out in our club and at work and ended up with three units, we gave two away to others in our club for camp ovens. Works a treat.

You can buy a new fry pan with cable for about $60- these days.
I would imagine if you tried to by the cable it would cost you something similar??
