Camping at Brindabella's

Hi all
Have you camped at the Brindabella's (just outside Canberra)?? Which is the best camping area?? We're not fussed on whether have facilities or not (we prefer not - less people!), but is there water near by for a dip???

And if anyone knows, whats the best way of getting there from Nowra to avoid Canberra itself or is this not possible?? (obvious use is main rd 92 / braidwood rd etc)

Have a great boxing day!!

ps, I noticed too when I looked up on here about Brindabellas that the menu up the top went back to the old way where forum was 2nd on the left etc.....!!

MacIntyres Hut, Flea Creek or Brindabella Valley are all possible, but could be busy. From Nowra its possible to work your way across to Yass on back roads, then from Yass go out to Wee Jasper which puts you at the northern end of the Brindabellas. To get the the Brindabellas you have to cross the Murrumbidgee River and there are not that many crossing points. Avoiding Canberra, especially now when its pretty quiet (half the population is at the coast) is really not necessary, assuming you have a map!

Was down there 3 weeks ago. Flea Creek has a long drop but McIntyre Hut has no facilities apart from the hut. There was a flat just near McIntyres Hut which was nice but I can't rememember the name. Also no facilities but a large area.
