Tracks around the simson area

Hi guys
Me the handbrake and the two dogs are heading of on a
road trip from Tassie over three months.
We leave in august next year 2009.
We were hoping to do some driving on the tracks around the simson desert but have found out there are no dogs allowed.
Dose any one know if their are any track around their were dogs can be taken.

Thanks Rob.

I don't know about tracks, but does your beloved let you call her the handbrake and allow you to LIVE?

Hahaha...
"Handbrake" sounds nicer than
"War Lord"
"Minister for war"
"Dragonbreath"
Hipobottomarse"
and the usual pet names , doesnt it??

Hairy, you must be like the proverbial cat - just how many lives have you got left? I still think Handbrake is the most murder material.

News B/T and it's all bad. The majority of the Simpson is a National Park so dogs, guns and chainsaws (a strange combination) are strictly forbidden. The desert parks pass you need to enter and camp in the Simpson outlines it all. You could possibly skirt below or above the desert with a pooch on board or do some exploring along the Cooper and then head across to Birdsville perhaps via Cordillo but nada for the Simpson. Can someone look after the dog while you travel?

Cheers Mick.

Oh and the rangers on the other side around Dalhousie are red hot on that sort of thing. Dogs and unregistered bikes.

Yep that's right but your only two access routes are via the Colson Track which is extremely difficult to get a permit for and The Hay river run which leads you into National Parks in both QLD and SA. You roll the dice in either direction.

How do you suppose the dogs got to Jabiru , What I'm driving at here is the fact that on many Highways, roads and tracks to get from A to B you pass through a NP with a dog in the car, My little fella has been to many while on the job, what do you do.... tie it up at the NP boundary , drive 200Ks and hope it's still there when you return,

Have you considered heading up the Old andado track on the western edge of the simpson? There's a good, dog friendly alternative. Here is the LINK to the trek notes on it.
