The options on the list include Shower/Toilet, Gas Hot water, A/C in the van section with a reasonable size frig and preferably 2 single beds, in the price range of $20,000 to $45,000..

The Toyota Coaster seems to be a popular unit. In my opinion Toyota builds reliable vehicles, but the units we have come across all have the double bed at the rear and a separate meals table which is not her preferred option. Engine sizes are 3Lt Diesel/4 cylinder and 6 cyl Turbo/Diesel.

Madza T3500 Not sure if they are re badged Ford units. They are generally not as expensive as the Coaster and the units we have come across, are 4 cylinder Diesel. The layout is 2 singles in the rear with a swing table in the middle The 2 singles can covert to a double. The beds/seats are used as the meals area during the day and can accommodate visitors easily. Where the Coaster has its meals area, the T3500 has additional cupboards. This is the preferred layout.

Nissan Civilian have only come across ads They do not appear to be as common as the T3500 or the coaster.

I have a good understanding of what to look for in buying a 4 x 4 or large Tandem Van, but for Motor homes models, comments appreciated.

Note have come across a number of units that have had motor rebuilds at costs between $5,000 and $12,000 with km readings of around 200,000km. Mate has got 450,000km out of his Landcruiser before it needed major repairs. So if daughter is looking at a max of 5000km per year and keeping the Motor home for 5 years before resale what Km should she/we be looking at.

Any serious issues please email me at:

Thanks

Peter

Has she looked at the yards that quit the 'ex rentals'? They seem to sell them after a certain kilometrage.

In its class, a Coaster is hard to beat.
Lots to choose from, lots more on the road.
They go almost anywhere in this country a 2WD can go.

I would go with the Coaster also. Easy to get parts, easy to drive.
Wont fall to bits on the bad roads a soon as the others.
If possible get one with a 1HZ engine in preference to the 3B or 2H diesel
You might have to buy one with a double bed and convert it
