Had the brother-in-law down for the Christmas break where he works on one of the coal
mine in central Queensland .We were talking about 4x4s and the good bad and ugly points of each model when he said the best 4x4 in the mines was the BT50 and how it outlasts the Nissans and toyos, mind you he said they still manage to break them.

Yes Carl, they are a good little truck. My mate bought one last year but a 4x2 only but is very happy with it. I see in yesterdays paper that the turbo diesel BT50 DX 4X2 is selling for $19,990 drive away no more to pay and includes heavy duty alloy tray, dual air bags, air con, alloy wheels etc. Has to be good value for a tradie or someone who wants a good reliable diesel truck with a 2.25tonne towing capacity.
Cheers,
GPM

yes they do look good too, with 115kW 380Nm, 3.0 litre in-line 4-cylinder, 16 valve DOHC inter cooled turbo diesel engine.
MAZDA T/D 4x4 ute
Look similar to a Toyota ute, but how many variations on a theme can you get ?
Will (probably) be in the market for a 4x4 (4 door ute) this year, if the funds pick up again and a $ goes back to being worth a $ again !
Also like the Isuzu u 4x4
ISUZU T/D 4x4 ute
Am interested in the pro's & con's of each from present owners :)

Hi Mainey
That's the way the doors open on our F250 extra cab (called a two door model). Quite handy to rig up privacy for showering.

Hi Carl,
Like all Mazda's, they are a great vehicle. On our Sandy Blight Trip last year, the only down side of the BT50 was ground clearance. The Mazda had the power, but lacked the clearance and was not able to get to the top of the
Sir Frederick Range. Those out there that have tackled this very steep and
rock covered
hill (very large rocks at that) will know what I am talking about.
But like all things, a bit of
suspension work would sort that out.
Cheers
Stephen

Hello Stephen
That's interesting
feedback. You might remember me from my query last week about your camping set-up. I am starting the search for a ute this month. Hilux is too expensive, Navara is an impressive looker with lots of good features but it is a nissan. So it probably comes down to to Mazda BT50/Ford
Ranger twins and the deal ... and of course the colour must be approved by TLOTO*.
Cheers

Hi
Ross,
They are a good vehicle and you would be very happy with your purchase. The member of my group purchased it through the internet and it came from
Sydney, and he had it trucked over to South Australia as part of the deal.
Cheers
Stephen
