You can check current conditions on the Central Darling Shire Council 24 hour line - (08) 8091 5155 - or the RTA Broken Hill info line: (08) 8082 6660.
Found them on that site. I reckon someone there may have been down that track lately.

Mick,
Went part of that way 2 years ago on the way home. The road from Wentworth is OK but after you pass Lake Victoria the road signs are non existent. I ended up driving down someones private road along the north bank of the Murray, but they were quite nice about it.(Couldn't find any decent maps on this area. If you have digital maps it would help or you could buy Topo 1:250,000 Maps Mildura, Ana Branch, Chowilla,Renmark) When the road veers around Lake Victoria towards the north you have to head north for quite a distance until you get to a T-junction. Might be 20km.(the T-junction is 89km from Wentworth and I think 74km from Renmark) It feels wrong but it is the right way. At the T-junction turn left towards Chowilla Conservation Park and then after a short while you will come to another T-junction. Left to Renmark. Right will take you through Chowilla and Danggali Cons Park to Yunta and beyond. It is a nice drive through Murray Sunset past the Pink Lakes and Rocket Lake. Saw lots of feral goats.Have a good trip.

thanks Willy,I have troppo map #SI54-11 for Mildura. It shows track from Cal lal onwards towards Salt creek then north to main Renmark -Wentworth road. I have paddled this area in canoes to where the old customs house ruins are .Hoping to get there by vehicle.

I drove past Cal Lal and then the track deteriorated to a farm road. I then backtracked to the homestaed and they advised me that the track you are talking about was on private property and had a locked gate somewhere. Best to give them a ring and make sure. Anyway it is not too much further around the other way.

Always going somewhere

Locals would travel this road in the Falcon or Commodore.

Hi MQ Mick,

I drove that road a couple of years ago. Very easy in the dry. Chowilla was fun as there had been a bit of rain previously, so when I arrived in Renmark, the 80 Series was a new colour of red. One of the 4wd books has the trip notes in it for that trip - it is rated as easy. If you want to get back to Adelaide from there, why not start from the Old Customs Post on the Murray and then follow the border all the way to Bordertown. We did that and stayed a night at the old shearers quarters in Murray Sunset NP. The Border Track from Pinaroo to Bordertown is not as challenging now due to greenie intervention, but it is a great drive.Just Do It!

G'Day Glenn,

Did the Pinaroo-Bordertown track in October last year . Found it to be a well driven track maybe a bit over used .Bushland is as dry as buggery.

G'Day Mick, As a slight alternative, from Mungo, head up to Pooncarie and across to the Silver City Highway. Just south of Lake Popitah there is a good dirt road that will take you back to Renmark. I think it is signposted to Belmore Station. We always go that way when heading North through Broken Hill. The road is shown on the Hema map Outback NSW.(Ref G2) It comes out on the Wentworth Road to Danggali track just inside the SA border above Chowilla. It take 2.5 to 3 hours to Renmark. Providing it's not too wet, the road is quite good.
Have a good tripAlpaca

Mick, travelled on the above track about 6 weeks ago, was in quite good nick, a few corrugations, but it was dry then.
Cheers Peter
