Has anyone got any information on Astrebla Downs NP apart from it being east of Bedourie and South of the Diamantina NP?

It looks as though there is a Bilby breeding program happening there which makes me suspect that the park might have restricted access.

Thanks,

Jeff

Yes. I understand this is a restricted access park.

Landy,

Thanks for the reply and yes, judging by the dearth of information that I can find on this park, I'd say that a visit isn't going to be likely.

btw, I see from your profile that you've been to Currawinya NP. Top spot eh? Yabbies are good there too.. :-)

Jeff

Mind you..Diamantina NP is worthy of a visit.

Currawinya is another good park, and yes plenty of yabbies. It seems you are in search of a Bilby?

Good luck with your travels..........

Landy,

Diamantina NP is certainly on the list!

I wouldn't mind catching up with a Bilby somewhere. We thought that Currawinya might have been the go, but the management area is restricted. One day.... :-)

Have a good one...

According to this:

Central West parks

it's a no access park.

Article here:

Astrebla

explains why.

The road from Monkira to Davenport Downs follows closely along the SE boundary of the park and the SW part of the Diamantina NP is similar country, (from looking at google earth).

RosscO,

Thank you, especially for the link.

We hope to get up that way sometime this year and, although Astrebla Downs NP isn't accessible, there are still a lot of other beaut places in the area to keep us busy ... Diamantina NP being one!

Jeff,

Diamantina NP is incredible and even the road from Winton to Diamantina has some amazing scenery as well. Stayed two nights at Hunter's Gorge last time we were there and intend to spend a few more so we have time to look arround all the park next time.

Would love to be back out there shortly after the water has gone from the current flooding to see what it's like. Unfortunately can't get away from work.

Cheers
Ross
