Hi, I am new to the
forum and was really looking for some guidance form those experienced if at all possible. Essentially I have just sold our old (first) caravan and am seriously considering purchasing a 2nd hand Jayco Expanda (one with bunks) as we have 6 people to sleep in the van itself. Are there any common faults with the vans, how easy are they to set up, do they work
well........the list goes on. I guess I am unsure and was hoping that I could get some advice from people who own them rather than a salesman! I don't know, but I think the 16.49-2 model is the one we may look at purchasing.
Thanks in advance for any guidance offered!;)

You might also want to join Family Camping Australia as several members have Expandas.
Hope this helps?

I've got one. Had it for four years now. No problems with it. easy to set up like about 1 min 30 secs when I leave it attached to the car like on short overnight stops. They work very
well as when travelling you still have access to kitchen, dining setting for the quick lunch stop. Full on set up takes about 5 mins with end flys, awning, ext matting, wind down stabilisers etc. Pack up could be about the same but seems to take longer. Hard roof version would be better but I think the front bed is smaller.
Mine is a 16-49 something with the outback pack. They are a really good family van and become spacious when set up.

Hi Dermottj,
If you find yourself in Dandenong,
Melbourne contact the Service dept at the Jayco factory. They run a free tour of their manufacturing facilities.
They would be able to answer questions for you as
well.
