Has anyone a contact number for a fishing charter handy to the
Victoria River roadhouse caravan park.
Have planned to stay there mid July 09
If there are any other suggested
places nearby would be interested to hear about them.

Sorry Pedro,
Just realised you were camping at Victoria
River Crossing not

still, these people might be able to point you in the right direction

Tried that no thanks but got the message 'sorry not connected'
Not having much luck.
Might try the
Timber Creek caravan park , and notice there are 2 parks so would appreciate advice on either.

The caravan parks at
Timber Creek were pretty ordinary. Gunumu had grassy sites but the amenities were atrocious...the Wayside Inn had no grass but the amenities were better.
There is a Np
campground just out of town at Big Horse Creek which seems quite ok.
We've been on the Max's
Victoria River Cruise a couple of times and found it very good...but that was back in 1993 and 1997 so not sure what it's like now.

Stayed Gunumu Caravan Park in
Timber Creek in 2007. We booked into it in order to do the daily cruise on the
Victoria River. When we went to the cruise office it was to find that tour groups were coming in and no
places on boat trip for a day, maybe two. We were so unimpressed with Gunumu that we did not stay the extra nights and gave the boat trip a miss. The Gunumu amenities were run down, bits broken and falling apart, and filthy.
The block closest to the main
camping area was also used by the locals - and they hang around the place because it is licensed, so go imagine.....There were other amenities in the bus tour group area that were not as run down - but very hard to get into. It also got pretty noisy at night.
If we ever have to stop a night there again, will try the other one - it can't be any worse.

Pedro,
re camping in that area. 2007 we stayed at Victoria
River Crossing RH camping ground (powered site). Found that very pleasant and good base to do the nearby walks, look at river etc. Then camped at
Bullita campground in
Gregory NP - did walk into
Limestone Gorge, shore fished the river, just vegged - very quiet there. Then, after the unpleasant
Timber Creek night, stayed several days at Keep River NP - this is a magic place for walks, scenery,
rock art, wildlife.

Sounds like some great spots in the area, worth going to.
Eventually found a charter operator who only works weekends.
