Hi All just travelled from Laverton to Alice Springs on Thursday and just a report on road conditions, the road from Laverton to WA boarder was very good travel time around 10 hours and lots of road works happening. NT boarder to Ayers Rock was in very poor condition lots of corrugation and deep sand on crests. Thousand of camels on WA side and the bush is looking a treat realy nice to travel good luck to all travelling it.
Regards Paintar

Thanks for that we traveled the road about 8 years ago and found it in pretty good condition the whole trip. We hope to make the trip again next year.

What were you driving ? Did you tow anything ?

Last time we drove the road in a 2 wheel drive toyota ute and had no problems, we met about 20 Citroen 2CVs coming the other way. They were having a ball driving the rough road !

Paintar,
Many thanks for the info. We plan to travel that way in early September. I know it can change a lot in that time but hopefully other travellers will keep feeding road condition info about the major tracks because there's nothing like hearing from people who have travelled a road rather than relying entirely on 'road conditions' sites.
