I don't know if you would call it a camp ground but you can see a turning circle and some sort of shed/shelter on google earth at the end of the track out from william creek

That's called Halligan Bay. Not a bad spot for a bit of solitude. No facilities there in '03 and I believe it's now hemmed in by the infamous bollards... The "shed" is an information sign.

We camped at Halligan Bay in 2005 and it was the coldest I have ever been. It was worse than the -3 that we experienced in the Simpson on the same trip. I think we were in bed fully clothed by 8pm trying to warm up.

Fires are not allowed either.

Sunrise and sunset were exceptional but I would never camp there again.

In 2005 there were composting toilets and a shelter over tables and seats.

YMMV

Yes there is a camp ground at ABC Bay with a composting toilet.

It is pretty bleak and remote and there is no shelter from the wind if it starts up as it often does.

I have a photo of it if you like.

There is a drop toilet and 2 picnic sheds and the dreaded bollards.

Email me if you want photos, they are not pretty.

If you like to camp by a billabong then you will love Muloorina. Turn off just out of Maree and drive in around 50km. There are some lovely sites and a flushing toilet! You can drive 45k from there in to see the lake at Last Post Bay and the channel to the south lake.
