I'm travelling to Broome at the end of May, leaving from the NSW Central Coast. I was looking at travelling the Buchanan Hwy just North of Dunmarra through to the Victoria Hwy. Has anyone travelled this road and if so what condition is it in? Thanks.

Weatho,

Travelled the Dunmarra Top Springs section in Sept last year and it was in good condition. A few years back did the whole road through to near Timber Creek and no worries at all.

Mate just towed his van from Dumarra to Halls Ck yesterday. Said it was very corrugated WA side and very dusty.

Towed van few years ago, from Dunmarra through VRD to Timber Ck. 2007 towed van from Dunmarra to Top Springs, then up the Delamere road (bitumen) to the Highway, because we wanted to visit the eastern section of Gregory NP. Road was fine, both times.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like it mightn't be too bad to travel on. I was thinking of the Butine Hwy as well which comes out at Halls Creek to save some time, but I'm not sure on this road either.

As I replied before the Buntine Hwy to Halls Ck was corrugated but my mate did it in a road standard caravan. He has spent the last couple of days cleaning off the dust!!

Weatho, last August we were going to Broome via the Tanami, info we got at The Alice was that it was extremely rough so went up to Dunmarra & across via Buchanan/Buntine & Duncan Hwys/Rd to Halls Creek then onto Broome. There had been some rain but roads were in my opinion quite good. We towed a Tvan with no drama at all. wonderful senery along the way
