Went to our local Toyota dealer today which is one of the biggest in Sydney to look at a Prado and they had no stock to look at and was told even if they did it would be 3 to 4 months to take delivery of a new vehicle if ordered that day.

Tried the local Nissan dealer to look at a Patrol as well, was told to come back in 3 weeks if I wanted to look at one. Delivery time was dont know but it could be months.

Is this a common thing at the moment?

There is a recession on, so no one is buying cars, so ne need to keep stock.
Doooh this is the kind of advanced business models that got us into trouble.

I'm told that the step from being an Investment Banker to Liquidator only involves changing the colour of your tie.

A bit like Padre' to undertaker perhaps??

Mogul,

why go for a Prado when a completely new one will be out in September?

Why go for a Prado at all?

A friend of mine has, so far, negotiated $20,000 off a new 200 series Sahara turbo diesel. and they are still negotiating.

I'm sure you could get a Dealer to drop his trousers for a 200 series diesel GXL for the same price as the Prado.

It's a buyers' market for floor stock.

Probably better pickings in Sydney but look at this, listed in the weekend paper here in Perth:

Surely they would be happy to bend over to get rid of some of those GXLs.

Few Prados there too if you really wanted one.
