I have just added seven blogs covering our Kimberley trip last year. They are dated at the time we were there eg June 2008.

Yet to come are the reports of our travels around Alice Springs.

I'll never catch up to Mick O and his many blogs of fascinating and out of the way places.

We'll be out of there by then and will hopefully be in the Bungles or still on the Tanami. For us it will be a quick trip to Alice for a couple of days (been there before) before heading north again.

Thanks for that Motherhen, read as far as the end of the Gibb. Interesting that there now would apprear to be more gorges accessible in ElQ than there was in 06 when we were last there. Or it may have been that we were there earlier in the year (2 weeks) and access was being denide?

I'd never heard of Tier Gorge, Remarkable Rocks, Matteo Rock, Moonshine gorge, or Pigeon Hole.

Maybe next trip we will be able to visit these sites.

Hi Duncan

We didn't drive or walk them all either. Walk/drive sheets are on a stand in front of office/shop. The Tier Gorge/Remarkable Rocks/Matteo Rock loop track is to the east of the King River and is very different to the rain forest gorges such as El Questro Gorge and Zebedee Springs.

The 4wd tracks along the Chamberlain River would have been good, but with our longer and wider wheel base, we were cautious. We smashed the trailer light connection on the rocks crossing the Chamberlain to get to Branco's L/Out.

As it was we spent three days and three nights at ELQ, making the most of the days and touring for much longer than we usually do.

They have a number of other areas reserved for their own internal tours.

Hi MH,

I just finished reading the Tanami trip. What stood out most for me are the photos (the story is good as well and that goes whithout say). I take it that this was with the BT.

These blogs are just so inviting but unfortunately it will be a couple of years for me. I am chewing at the bit and rearing to go.

You were talking about the Savannah way (if my memory serves me correct) how's the planning going.

Kind regards

Hi Beatit

Your turn will comes. I waited many years for that trip. Yes, we took the BT (ongoing saga reports were on the BOG site). We re-assessed after Willie's Tanami experience and advice, but as time ticked by, we went back to our original plan.

We of course left the caravan for the trip into Purnululu as caravans are not permitted, and when we got to Alice Springs, did some day trips also without the van.

This year will probably be back to the NT via the Gary Junction Road, then Kakadu, Litchfield and places we didn't get to see last year. I'm open to suggestions. Depending on time (my travel plan is not to plan) we may go into Qld via the Savannah Way. Our BT has been, but we haven't.
