Hi there
We have a deep cycle battery installed in our
Tambo camper and I have heard that the battery if not re charged within 3 months will die.
To counter act this it is necessary to purchase a Float charger that we hook up to 240Volt power that sends a trickle of power to top up the battery.
I am considering purchasing a CTEK 7amp Float Charger, but to be quite honest Id prefer not the additional $285 expense after having already spent lost of $$ setting things up.
Would be keen to read if there are others out there in similar situation and what works best for you. Thanks any ideas welcome. James

I am unable to fit a charger for the batteries for my caravan so I have a small solar panel and a regulator. Works OK for me

A battery should ideally be recharged within 1 day !!!!! NOT 1 or 2 or 3 months.....
Unfortunately, you have got a battery and it needs a charger....you can get cheaper ones than Ctek ( Jaycar is just one )
If you want to keep the battery for a while ( and it seems like you don't want to
fork out money for a new one every year ), whack it on charge as soon as you get
home and either leave it until you go camping next time ( don't buy a cheap trickle charger ) or after a day or so take it off charge and leave the battery sitting there ( with nothing connected to it )......but if you are not using the CT for months at a time, put it back on charge every month ( or two )

I brought a 4 stage charger from Jaycar for $120 about 11/2 years ago and leave it plugged in all the time on the CT.
I changed the battery clamps on the charger and fitted an Anderson Plug so now can plug into the trailer or the Fourby without even lifting the bonnet or battery box top. Also charges both batteries in the fouby through the Anderson plug.
Kept the Battery clamps, bought a couple of meters of heavy lead and fitted another Anderson plug to the battery charger clamps so can use it on any other car or battery if needed. Just plug the leads together. Works great.

Checkout
Ozcharge. 16 amp for $200. I have one fixed inside the battery box. My sparkie's been selling them for 2 years and not seen a problem.
