All,
I have a friend who is languishing in an old 55 series 'beast' that continually gives him problems. You'd think he'd have sorted them all out by now, but they just keep coming. As a result he is looking for another, more reliable vehicle, and he sent me this question:

"I have just had a look at a (yes I know, not a Toyota Landcruiser)
Holden Jackeroo 1994 model 3.1 litre turbo diesel complete with
intercooler, 5 speed g/box. It has 350,000 Kms on it and it looks in
fairly good condition.

They are asking $11,000 for it and the book price on this model is
$13,000 to $15,000.

Have any of you heard of any problems with this model vehicle and how
would it go compared to a landcruiser?"

Your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated. I don't have experience with Jackaroos, and my own view is that he'd be better to aim for a GQ or 80 series...Russell S

that looks like the V6 truckster - presumably TD would go for a bit more as with most other makes?

Unless he is prepered to keep the Jackaroo untill it dies of old age I would not touch it.
Year or two and you hit 400K mark the price will be really , really low.

I would rather go for Hilux with same milage and at least you know that you can easily put Holden V6 cheaply if diesel creates any major problem or gives up the ghost.

Do you know the history of this Jackaroo ? Was it serviced correctly ?

If you decide to get it try to pay 9K as there won't be many takers with that
kind of milage

I know where there is a really beautiful 60 series diesel with 300klm, and just the best one I've seen for ages. For sale in Sydney. I have no connection to this car or it's seller, just something I stumbled accross.
red in colour, A/C , $8500 (from memory)
Call me on 0408-507-819 if you want the details of where it is and who to ask for.

Josh.

I actually like the look of Jackaroos, Id have one for second car, or just a basic 4b.

They are very underrated cars. Just with that many klms on it, things are bound to start going wrong, and will have ZERO resale vaule in 12-48 mths time when it has another 100-150,000klms on..
