Hi All,

I am leaving late July to head up to Uluru, Kings Canyon, Alice Springs, Finke, Oodnadatta Track down to Wilpena Pound then home to Melbourne. I have set aside 3 weeks for this trip. This is my first long distance trip and I was wondering if anyone can help me with some good camping spots, special things to see other than the main tourist spots. Also things to look out for etc basically some general advise for a trip of this sort.

Thanks,

It is a good camp. but I wouldn't recommend it to someone doing their first trip of this type.

Gday,
What are you travelling in, are you towing anything, how long do you plan to stay in or around Alice?
Give me a bit more info and I might be able to give you some help with places around Alice.
As others have said...Boggy Hole is nice...and quite do-able with a trailer, depending on your expierience. But if your not upto it , there are plenty of other places you can get into.

Cheers

Hairy,

I'm in a Nissan Patrol and just using a tent. At this stage we are looking to stay around 4 to 5 days in the Alice. This is our first trip to central Autralia but have been through the high country in Victoria last year.

Thanks

Gday,
Boggy Hole is an easy drive without a trailer this time of the year. Sand will be your only issue if your not used to it , but its a lot better in the cooler months.
If you want to go that way when you get here and are worried about it, let me know when you plan to go through and Ill help out if you have problems.
If you havent been here before your probably better off doing the tourist spots as they are quicker to get in and out of.

Palm Valley, Kings Canyon Via Boggy Hole would probably be a good way out after a coule of days doing the Macs???? ( if your heading South)
There are spots out on the Macs were tourist dont really go rather than camping in the hot spots....if thats what your looking for.
Let me know what places you really want to see and I can probably tell you a way to get there and where to camp without the "tourists".

Ps. Watch out for the grog laws! your not allowed to drive out along the Western Macs now with opened grog in your car! ( thats including on the highway on your way to National parks)

Cheers
