Hi to everyone and the ExplorOz team.

As this is my first post I should say that I have been a regular visitor to this forum now for well over 18 months and it has now come to the stage where I would like to play a more active role than just reading.
To be honest and right from the start I can say that I can’t think of one time where I have reluctantly closed down from this site and not taken something away be it knowledge or just plain old good advise from experienced travellers. This advice has given me the encouragement over the past twelve months to get out there and start enjoying and appreciating some of the better experiences that life has to offer which so many of you seem to enjoy year after year(sometimes I am so envious).
As such I willingly got my forby up to mechanical scratch and purchased a camper trailer along with some much needed equipment thanks to the guidance from the posts. I have the family well and truly briefed and we are now ready to travel and tackle some of the better places this country has to offer.
I have been up in the Territory now for over eight years and have been in and around the place quite extensively with work so I thought it would be a good time now to say thanks and to give something back by sharing some of my knowledge that hopefully may benefit one or two of you in the future.
Finally apologies for the length as I probably got a bit over excited and hopefully a membership won’t be to far down the track.

I look forwarding to sharing and reading further posts.

Cheers.

I found this site about 5 years ago, when we were planning our first Outback trip of around 8000kms.
Due solely to the help & advice found here, the trip went like clockwork & we have been grateful ever since.

Hi & welcome Hespy. Yes, get out there and travel Oz - most people will tell you their biggest mistake was starting too late (and I did my first major trip at 25).

Hopefully now as you venture out and about, you'll also be able to add some valuable input to the site.

Hi Hespy. I to have only been a member from March this year and found the advice invaluable since I joined. Retired two years ago and did a trip around Oz. Got the bug and have been doing short trips since then, Will be heading off the Cape York shortly. The fellow Members on this Forum are a great bunch of people with the endless advice following a few post questions. You could not buy this information without spending a lifetime in a library. Enjoy the road ahead. Cheers Steve...

Spot on GB.

One departure and two new posts on the forum yesterday.

I guess that is a net gain?

Welcome Hespy.

Matt.

Gone Bush,

The site remains in balance only because of Hespy's location, but with all due respect to Hespy who I appreciate is a new visitor, the site will not remain in balance due to the lose of Steve (The Top End Explorer) and his knowledge and advice.

Hespy,

Welcome to the site mate, I am sure you will enjoy it in the future just as you have in the past.

Cheers,

Cruiser

Cruiser - You are never expendable - if you remain humble, then getting moderated is not a problem - Steve had good knowledge - but so do a lot of others. Do not forget he made the choice to leave, as it seems Willem has too.

We all get the goat up of others at times - thats life!

Hespy - Welcome to the nut house it seems :-) Best of Luck Tony.

Tony,

I appreciate that Steve chose to leave, but I also appreciate the contribution he made to this site.

I dont have a problem with moderation, just the inconsistency of its application, but thats another discussion.

I am sure Hespy will fit in well and gain a lot from this site.

Cheers,

Cruiser

Welcome Hespy.

Don't be backward in posting on experiences, knowledge and opinions you have on a variety of topics.

You will soon be "told" if other people agree with your posts, comments etc:-)))

Hope you can give us lots of info to contribute to the successful forum we have.

Bill.
