Fishing charters - Northern Territory

G'day folks, In late July and August I'll be up in the NT on my winter 4WD trip and am interested in doing a few full day fishing charters (esturary or reef). Firstly does anyone know of anybody doing charters in the western Gulf areas eg around Borroloola, King Ash Bay, Limmen River, Roper River areas (doesn't seem to be much advertised on the web)? Secondly, there seem to be quite a few operators out of Darwin - anybody have any good experiences and hence a charter operator they would recommend? Only a few weeks before I leave - bring it on!!! Thanks, Ray

Hi Ray,

At King Ash Bay try:

Paradice Fishing Tours
Mark or Jennifer
Phone: (08) 8975 9705

Also, I suggest you drive into Gove rather than fishing around Darwin and go out with Gove Fishing Charters.

Cheers,

Chris

Another option in Darwin, hire a boat and go over to the mangroves, have seen Barra caught there and some other nice table fish too

HI Ray. Ring King Ash Bay Fishing Club & ask for Val. She does fishing trips. Brian.

Hi Ray

From personal experience one of the most knowledgeable and top guides for fishing in the topend is Graeme Williams from Insight Fishing.

I have met Graeme on a number of occasions and find he is a gentleman and knows his fishing in and around Darwin whether it is in Darwin harbour, Bynoe harbour, Corroboree billabong, or anywhere in Kakadu - this guy knows his fishing.

Of course it is harder to catch barramundi at this time of year but there are plenty of other species in estuarys that are great to catch and good to eat.

Darwin reef and Wrecks when in Darwin. Harbour or offshore, won't be disappointed.

I've used Blue Water Arafura twice.

The first time I landed a 30lb jewie, the second time we got a good feed of smaller fish.

I would highly recommend.
