John,

Do you mean an AGM style battery?
Not a sale as such, but the Remco from Whitworth Marine is hard to beat for value.

Sorry, should have been a bit more specific....

What I'm after is a cranking battery. Long story short, my Trojan DC has carked it. It is a 10" battery and just squeezes into the aux tray. What I plan to do is put a normal cranking battery in that slot and then re-position my wiring so as to use the existing cranking battery (Exide Extreme N70) as the aux. Then when it dies I'll have far more choices to replace it with a DC battery. Being restricted to a 10" for an aux is a bit of a pain.

I'm thinking I'll get a calcium battery for the cranker, Delcor or similar.

Yes, it may be so why not think further ahead and plan for a much larger Aux battery ??

I thought that's what I said?? The Exide N70 in the normal tray will be the aux... It's a 12" (300mm) battery and I could possibly go even a bit bigger in that tray.

Ok,
So you have a 10" battery and it just squeezes into the Aux tray and you plan to put a normal cranking battery in that slot.

so you will be restricted to a 10" Cranking battery ??

Correct. That should be adequate. I'd sooner have a larger aux. Can always use it to jump start via the Redarc if necessary.
