Greetings guys - i am heading down to
bega in a few weeks ( looking at more property) and as i have never seen the snow ( apart from tv and in my freezer) i would not mind having a look or even a drive in in ( in the Patrol) SO WHERE IS THE CLOSEST SNOW to

Cooma ? is snow chains a must ?

Head to
Cooma, Turn left to
Jindabyne, then Take your pick, Thredbo or Perisher. Don't think Chains are needed for 4wds, there was a thread about it a few days ago

Thanks extfilm - another quick question - do i need to make sure i have a full tank of Alpine diesel or will blended normal and alpine be ok for areas with snow ?

Are you planning to
park in the snow overnight? If so, stick with alpine diesel only.
ATM 4bies in NSW resorts don't need chains but I understand that's about to change and come in line with Vic.

ps: if you just want to throw snowballs etc then drive past Thredbo to
Dead Horse Gap just up the road.

hi , yes its just a day trip - i am staying at a friends house at
Tathra - so after a bunch of property inspections early in the week - later in the week is when i hope to see some snow - get some photos for the misses and kids :)

You MIGHT get lucky and storm will come thru from the south dumping snow on the Brown (mountian), normally the Highway gets closed at least once a year, for a day or two, and you wont have to go far at all, if not, as other reply's have stated.
