Hi there,
Hooray!
We are off on our first BIG trip with the camper trailer and we are looking for good campsites and kids activities (5yr and 3yr old boys) along the way. We have an Aussie Swag and are self sufficient for a few days at a time. Any advice of what to see and what to miss is greatly appreciated.
Sydney > Dubbo >
Broken hill >
Hawker >
Farina >
William Creek >
Coober Pedy >
Oodnadatta >
Yulara > Boggyhole >
Alice Springs >
Chambers Pillar
then
home back to
sydney.
Cheers
Dave

Hi mick,
We are not exactly sure which way we will go. First stop Dubbo. The list of
places I mentioned are a rough guide of where we are headed.
Cheers

G'day vowel man
Easy to see why Mick asked in what direction you are travelling - from the string of locations there would be some backwards and forwards travelling.
Looks like a great trip, and it will provide plenty to do and see without really needing highlights being spelt out.
If you are going
Farina to
Marree, then the Caravan Park there that is close into town is good. Basic, but good campfire set up, and tends to be communal for kids.
Well, it was last year.
Coward Springs along the
Oodnadatta Track is a good site. The little map book
Oodnadatta Track from www.outbacktravellers.com.au is
well worth the small $$ outlay. Haven't checked the
shop on exploroz to see if they sell it. I think the
pink roadhouse at
Oodnadatta has a useful website, particularly for tyre pressures.
If you can afford a flight out of
William Creek over
Lake Eyre and
the painted hills then it is
well worth it, but it's not cheap. Wright Air is the company in
William Creek.
Camper trailers used not to be recommended into
Boggy Hole, but plenty do it. Coming from the south there are some tight corners and intruding branches. Some of the sandy bits can be soft and require low range - again I'm talking past tense and a year or so ago.
Boggy Hole north to Hermansburg is more open.
Have a great trip
Cheers
John
