In a couple of days I intend to travel up to Hebel Qld. and do some bush camping, on the Balonne River. I understand that there are places to go.

After that, if we can find somewhere, we intend to move on to Surat, and camp at Fishing & Restocking Club Park (Caps Oz Wide No. 752 (Qld).

Any advice re these location would be greatly appreciated.

Just a Km or so out of Hebel on the Diranbandi Rd. You are right on the river there. Free Camp.

Make sure you drop in to the Hebel Pub and say hello to Constable Grunter.

Richard,

Ask at the Hebel pub, but there is some great bush camps in the area.

For a bit of a scenic drive when you get to Dirranbandi ask for directions to the Whynbah Road, it is a dirt road from Dirranbandi to St George and a great alternate way to travel as it winds along the river.

The Camp site in Surat is also a great place to pull up and the last time I stayed there the campers were catching some good sized Yellowbelly.

Cheers Kev

Showers at an ammenities block on the sth side of Surat. The Fishing club campground has a toilet block but no shower and is on the nth side of Surat, a great stopover.

Enjoy, Trevor.
