Does anyone know whether there is a track that goes from Stuart
Creek opal fields to Borefield track directly? Both Google Earth and Shonky show that the track peters out and appears to stop at the
dog fence about 6km short of the Borefield track. Is there a track that runs along the fence that is open to the public? The alternative is to return to
Roxby Downs which would add about 150km to get to the same point on Borefield track.
Thanks,
Adrian

Travelled the Borefield track a few weeks back - there are no tracks off it except when you get into the olympic Dam area.

Thanks for that. I wonder if it's possible to get permission from the station owner (if the 6km between the tracks is part of a station) to go cross country. Time to make some phone calls.

We traveled the borefeild last thursday to
andamooka and did the private track to
farina. On ozi with the hema map we saw the track off the borefeild and it was a sand track over a dune and as we needed fuel we went via
andamooka.

Thanks
How did you get from Borefield track to
Andamooka? Was it via
Roxby Downs?

There are tracks all over the place but if you look closely you should see a track in the proximity of the fence line that leads out to the Borefield track. A bit of a sandy track and not a direct line to the road. Out on the Borefield track you also come out on the fence line from memory and it also appears to run West from my look on Google Earth. Before this there is also a
gate with a
sign that refers to
Andamooka Station and telephone number for access permission. I think their main concern is about people getting lost therefore the restrictions but my sense is that the locals have unfettered access.
Other than Stuarts
Creek am not sure where you are coming from so cannot comment any further? A good GPS should do the trick??

Thanks Leigh
I am considering
Woomera -
Roxby Downs -
Andamooka - Stuart
Creek - Borefield Track to
Oodnadatta Track then head north.
The gap was between a track heading northwest from Stuart
Creek and Borefield Track. I would prefer to not continue along the Torrens (?) track east through
Mulgaria Station nor to go all the way back to
Roxby Downs to pick up the Borefield.

Hi Adrian. Looks like a good little side trip. Suggest you also have a look at White Dam and Bill's Pub. The locals will be able to give you good advice...the
post office (Margo?) should be able to give you precise info on the tracks to take. In any event you go out past the
airstrip to the North East of town. Go out and have a look at the top of
Lake Torrens if time permits on your way up to Stuart's
Creek. I reckon you will come out on the borefield track at approximately 30.129705, 137.038716 so if you are able to check this reference on Google Earth the route should, hopefully, become more obvious. Hope this helps. Send me a MM with your phone No if you want to have a chat. Cheers
