Yup!

Bit of a shock given the hours of loving attention and dollars that he has poured into it. Will be a good buy for the right person.

Will be very interesting to see what he comes up with as a replacement....

I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.......

I need something bigger than the Chev-Nissan as the kids are growing too damned quick.

Then I've got the lovely Annette telling me that we don't do enough travelling anymore to warrant a larger rig. But I have just retired from the bank and hope to be able to get away MORE OFTEN (ie: every school holidays).

I am keen to delve deeper into the "beautiful" Oka, but it's not the sort of rig you can just duck down to the local car dealer to have a look at, so there's another quandry.

Of course, I cannot buy another vehicle until I sell the Chev, so I've started by advertising the Chev for what I believe it is worth. It will only come to fruition if somebody else sees the vehicle through the same eyes that I'm looking at it through.

Wish me luck

Roachie

Honestly Roachie. Go find an Oka before you selll or move anything

They are not all you expect.. As said on patrol forum, they handle like boats. We only had ours for 12 mths at the station and it was banished.

There are better options.

Roachie, you couldn't stretch the cabin could you? You have a lengthened chassis already I guess, then the tailored tray. I am sure a streeeetched Nissan would be an identity as much an Oka.

"but it's not the sort of rig you can just duck down to the local car dealer to have a look at"...what a cop out...you've got all the time in the world so does it matter how long it takes to go have a look

Roachie
There are a few options around there are far more 'easy to live with' than the OKA.
Isuzu and Mitsubishi based units to name a couple.
Not knocking the OKA as a great expedition vehicle, but do a lot of homework first.
BTW our little Iveco 4WD was a pleasure in our recent outback jaunt. And there's even a guy here in Sydney slotting a Chev 6.5 into his !!

Im not totally sure why Roachie is different to the other 10,000,000,0000 families out there with 2 adults, and 2-3 kids travelling Aussie in Patrols, Pajeros, Jackaroos, Breadboxes, Normal small twin cab utes etc.

Bloke in my club (not sure if Ken is still on here) does a 6 week remote trip every year.. up till recently hes done it in a 100 series with no trailer. He now has a Kimberly (from memory) van... His 2x sons are over 10.

Not 100% sure why Roachies rig ways more than the QE2 compared to many others out there - many are over GVM yes, but not by 2 ton..

I'd be lookin at the shi tthat goes on every trip, and thinking if you really need it, or have used it on the last 5 trips...

Whats easier, stick with what he has, and lose some tonnage, and tow a trailer... oh he already does.

It doesnt add up unless its all about "Identity" as mentioned.

Okay, okay....sanity has prevailed!!!

I've taken a Bex and had a good lie down and the ad in the Trader section has now been marked-off as "SOLD".... however, it is really just a case of me having changed my mind.

It has been brought to my attention as to the amount of heart and sole (not to mention the cash) that I have invested into this beast, so it has now been withdrawn from sale.

Please accept my apologies to anyone who has been inconvenienced.

It all started out as a "testing the water" exercise; not so much as to whether I could in fact sell the Patrol, but whether an Oka or Canter might be better for our purposes. However, not having been able to see/feel/drive either of these types of vehicles, I took the (stupid) step of advertising the Patrol before I should have.

You see, I didn't want to find a good alternative vehicle and then be stuck with not having the cash to buy it..........

Once again, my sincere apologies for muckin-ya's-about!!!

Bin there n done that.

2 x 6 ft teenage boys (& daughter) sharing the back seat in a bitsamissing triton dual cab led to lots of trying times and shouting from me.

That said they grow and get licenses and their own car in only a few short months or a year & bongo - get their own vehicle!

Then you will be minus your truck & the fights and they will be in their own vehicle.

Keep yours - buy them something else and teach em to drive etc!

Yours will be ideal once you offload the kids into their own!

Then you go exploring in family convoy!

Cheers

Been there, with two teenage sons.
Only lasted a few years until they got to 17/18 and wanted to do their own thing.
Now they borrow the car for their own occasional trip.

Hang onto it Roachie, it will be hard to replace.

I'll be mighty surprised if it is not snapped up quick smart at that price Roachie. It'll be a hard one to replace and I don't reckon an OKA would fill its boots either. maybe an F truck if space (isn't it always?) is the big issue and the budget allows.

Reconsider???? :)

Cheers
