I am taking the family out bush in September and am chasing any info or links to
Karijini National Park. We welcome any info especially from past visitors. How prepared do we have to be? What can we expect? What is the best way to get there from
Perth?

To get there Straight up turn right at Nanutturra Roadhouse to
Tom Price.
Expect corrugations in large amounts when in the
park.
Lovely scenery can be done in 3 or 4 days Nice
Lookout at top of Mt Nameless at
Tom Price.
4wd track is a bit rugged to drive up.
MT Sheila is another
lookout that is worthwhile and you can go to
Hamersley gorge on the way back to
Tom Price
Van
park at
Tom Price is quite nice and shops are nearby
Is 31 k out to
park.

The shortest route is via Mt Magnet (inland road). All sealed road to
Dales campground on the eastern side. This campground has drop
toilets BBQs. showers and
water are available at the
visitors centre (10 Ks from
camp ground).
Camping at the western end is private eco resort. Not cheap and 40 Ks unsealed
road to get there. Would expect it to be quite rough by September. All the rocks on the road are very sharp and lots of tyres are damaged. Drive carefully and can be OK without towing. We do day trips out of Dales and that works for us.
By September should be easier to get in but get there early as possible. The campground fills up by 11.00am through July / August.
We have spent 2 six week sessions
camp hosting there and still have more to see.

forgot. Be aware that it is a 140Klm round trip to the nearest fuel at
Auski roadhouse.

Reckon
Dales Gorge is the best
campsite - we went for a swim most evenings in
Fern Pool to keep clean (~15 minute walk from the
camp).
The drive around to Hamersly Gorge is worth it - there are some really nice
spa pools there (~2m diameter, several meters deep. Great to have a soak in for a while).

I stayed at the Eco place about a month ago and I think it is a dump ! Dozens of
camp sites and only a couple of
toilets - no wonder there was rubbish and
toilet paper in the bush around the
camp sites. If you go for a drive right around the block there are nice free
camp sites up
the gorge behind Wittenoom. Just head into the hills at the 'T'
intersection. The
visitor centre is a nice building but the staff were not able to help with even the simplest questions about the
park from some visitors.

Yep went there, was less than impressed at $245 a night to stay in a tent PLUS meals.
Dont know what they charge for
camp sites but didnt look the best.
