Nope - they are inside a big shed! But I'm sure you'll see the shed on Google Earth.

Darrel,

If your talking Lark Quarry then google will show you a building.

They are under cover.

Tour times are 10.00am, 12.00pm and 2.00pm

Well worth a look and a great story told by the man who was there last year when I went.

Cheers
Garth

Darrell, I back Garth on the worthiness, we had a guy with us who thought it was just a tourist spot and became intrigued. Dinosaur Bill was great with his story

While you're out that way head up to Richmond to the dinosaur centre. If you think the tracks are good Kronosaurus Korner will blow your mind..

Not only Richmond , Muttaburra has the Muttaburasauras Landoni and Doug Langdon who found the Dinosaur still lives in town , also a point to ponder is Boulia ,great dinosaur display [ not advertised as Boulia is more into promoting the Min-Min light] , but Boulia has an enormouse wealth of Dinosaur on display at the museum , if lucky you may meet Richard Seutar ,otherwise known as Dinosaur Dick ,bulk articles in national Geographic.

Ask at Richmond in the Dinosaur centre about fossicking for your own fossils - they will send you up the road for a few km - not dinosaurs but - the kids can find fish bones and teeth etc up there - about 95M years old I think ! Guide at Lark Quarry encouraged us to fossick amongst roadside stones out around Jundah etc - we did on the way home SW - and found some small fossils there too - the whole region was under water once. Great fun.

Also have a good look round Winton, nice town and good people.

The Waltzing Matilda centre is excellent.

I second the town of Winton as Rockape above has said.... The Matilda centre has much history and character! Lark Quarry is well worth the drive from Winton out, it is indeed a fascinating place!

Cheers

I found Lark Quarry a bit underwhelming... maybe because of the drive there and back from Winton with three young kids who were expecting to see more than a set of footprints. The country is quite beautiful when you get there.

Winton itself is very nice... the beer, food and service at the Tatts Hotel is great... get a table outside. The Matilda Centre was terrific, as was the 'musical fence'.

Check out the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Centre which has just been opened. Good display and you can see the "bones" being worked on to remove the rock.
Interesting walk around the site.
Turnoff about 12 km from Winton on Longreach road then about 12 km gravel to the Centre
