A couple of weeks ago a Member either sent an email or he made an enquiry on one of my posts , I cannot remember who it was, the query was about a gps that only alerts when the school crossing times are in operation as per the 40 Kph signage, there is another new unit now on the market that would suit his needs .
The AlerteGPS G220

If you want a road-GPS that only alerts you about school zones during the time limits on Monday to Friday - then DON'T buy a TomTom.
They were too cheap to program that in as an option.
Also if you want one that warns you of current speed limit on the road that you're on, DON'T buy a TomTom. It regularly tells me I'm in a 100k zone when I'm in an 80k zone - and that's on major highways within a 100km of
Sydney - I dread to think how inaccurate it is further away from heavily trafficed roads.

Mike
I was watching my Nuvi 765 the other day near Coolalinga and as I passed the 80
sign going from 100 to 80 it changed , spot on , some other locations it was out about 20m as I passed a
sign, all the school zones I have passed it was accurate using the talking warnings . All I need now is to get the Garmin Topo for it and use it full time rather than CN 2010,
As shown the difference in the same area, same zoom between the two ,

Yes, I can quote hundreds of examples where TomTom shows Speed Limits accurately.
It's the incorrect ones that may cause me to get booked for going 20k over the limit that are of interest.
I bought the TomTom because they advertise that owners can add in their own Speed Limit corrections -
well that's just Not Fit For Purpose - if I need to change 1 km of the Pacific Hwy, I first have to deselect ALL OF THE PACIFIC HWY except for that 1 km - no wonder there are so many errors on major Highways.
