Evening all
I had read with disgust during the past couple of weeks of some lowlife thieving "persons" taking what is not rightfully theirs i.e. EO wheel covers.
Well even quiet
Tamworth is no longer safe for those members living here and who love to advertise the EO logo.
Mine was taken from the second spare on the back of my Nissan sometime last night. I had washed the Nissan but had not washed the red dust and stains from the wheel cover - reminded me of the wonderful trip last year and now some bugger has taken it from me. And the cover was a gift from my travel buddy whilst at the gathering at
Innamincka last year.
Might have to chain the next one to the wheel too. What is the world coming to???

Sorry to hear that John.
I just received two covers for the camper. and was thinking when I fitted them, How do I stop some low life from stealing them.
The only thing I could possibly do is, fix two eyelets where the cord comes out and zip tire, but then again if they want it and cant have it they will probably just cut it threads anyway.
Maybe do what a poster put up in the thread about loosing his flag, Put bait hooks around the inside of it. The I guess you would end up with a broken windscreen or a key down the side of you truck.
I don't know. Maybe we are loosing the battle, but never give up the hope that we will win the war.

Jon
I could put another cover on the other wheel with words like "Keep stealing ya mongrel, I'm just loading my shotgun" but then that would only attract the gentlemen in blue and other bad stuff so will just have to buy another cover and do as you have suggested.
Cheers

Gday Jon,
If its the type with a pull string, take it out and feed a thin stainless cable through it and padlock it?
It might deter the bastards that just do it as a spur of the moment thing.
Look on the
bright side......here, they take your whole bloody car....and if they cant get it they destroy it! LOL
Cheers

Hey Hairy,
Hows it going?
That was the other thing I was thinking about doing. Maybe push bike brake cable or similar. Just as an inconvenience to them.
As John touched on, you think your safe or away from that kind of behavior and then it happens. So I guess we don't give them 'opportunity' although sometimes you can't help but leave our 4by's or vans where we have to. :(
Yeah, I've dealt with mongrels that are vindictive too, If they can't have it, neither can you attitude.
We just have to be a little bit smarter than the average bear. :)

if you dont change number plates often ( ie loose them in deep
water crossings where they get bent up and snapped of it not secured properly) then maybe you could think of maybe getting your number plate embroided on them
as this process involves a sewing machine punching holes in the cover to put the thread in --- if the idiot who steels it then tries to pick the threads out - they will still have an imprint of the numberplate in form of holes - which would be a dead give away ....

Hi David
Thanks for the offer. I have just completed an order including a new wheel cover. I'm happy to pay for the new one. Please donate a wheel cover to the gathering at
St George as a raffle prize or similar on my behalf.
Cheers

Just as an aside, I'll be buying a length of steel cable and getting eyes swaged onto each end so I can put the cable through the cover sleeve and then I can put a padlock onto the cover too - I'll need heavier
suspension soon with all the *&^%$# locks. Shame others cannot leave things that don't belong to them alone.

Thanks for the counter offer - we will be sure to send an extra cover to the gathering.
It is a pity and please upload a photo of your mods to the cover and we will show it to the manufacturer (who is local) and we will see if we can get these installed in the cover during completion - it may not cost much to have it done and would allow other to lock theirs also.

I hope people bring lots of gold coins for the items on offer in
St George LOL
I think I need to do another trip there prior to the gathering to offload what prizes I already have.
It is shaping up to be a great Gathering with the help of a heap of people who can't make it :))
Cheers Kev

Hi Kev,
Mate it is sure sounding like a great gathering. We won't be there as we have to be in
Adelaide at that time for Mum's 60th and hopefully my step sister's first child.
I can't believe we have a gathering right on our doorstep and we still can't get there. Not happy :(
I certainly hope you guys have a great time though.
Greg
