We are staying at mum and dads (in a house) in Echuca for the next few weeks. Jasmine (aged 6) was doing the dishes tonight. After putting the plug in and looking around the kitchen she asked nanna "where's the water". Nanna said "it's in the tap". Jasmine said "Oh, so there's hot in that tap and cold in the other one", with an amazed look on her face. When doing dishes we often got hot water from the laundry. We have been on the road for over half her life so far. On the flip side she can using a tarp, poles and ropes with her sisters help erect a cubby to play in. She can name the fish we catch, and tell you how to noodle for opals and most Australian wildlife. They know what diff locks, max trax and winches are. They know what an amazing adventure we have had. What a life.

That's great Josh,

I don't believe Jasmine is missing out on any of the "essentials of life".

The "alternative" lifestyle you are providing will live with her in her mind for the rest of her life and you are providing the best, balanced education of Australian travelling life available.

I envy you and I applaud the unique life experience you are providing your child.
She will be richer for the experience.

Bill.

Thanks Bill,
My only concern is when she's 15 and says 'Dad I want to go travelling with my girlfriends" What do I say? LOL. I look at how much they have grown through this experience and feel truly blessed by it all. The people we have met, the places we have been. The girls will often talk about places, people or things we have done like it was yesterday, I can't remember what I did yesterday lol. What an amazing country we live in. You have to love the way that kids look at life.

Hi Josh, hat off to you and the experience you are giving your little one. Speaking from first hand experience, believe me you are doing a great thing. My parents built a mobile home out of an old Bedford furniture removal truck back in 1976, i was 6 and we took off travelling for 4 years through country Victoria, Nsw and Qld. The plan at the time was to do a full lap, but somehow we ended up stopping in Qld (NW of Caboolture for you cane toads out there) and never got going again.

That experience lives with me still to this day and of course, the travel bug in me has grown by the day since. Funnily enough she will probably have the same problem i have as an adult, trying to tell people about the things she has seen and done and having them not believe her because to most people, it is far too extraordinary.

Josh, if you don't have to stop, keep on going and give that little girl the best education she could ever dream of.

Tony.
