We are planning to travel the Wool Wagon Pathway (
Geraldton,
Mullewa,
Pindar, Murchison Settlement,
Gascoyne Junction,
Kennedy Range National Park,
Exmouth) towards end Sept to early Oct 09.
Can anyone share their experiences of this trip or something similar? I am curious to know about the road conditions and if you can let us know of some great
camping spots/stop overs.

Hi Cindy, the
Carnarvon Mullewa road,
Mullewa to
Gascoyne Junction is a really good gravel road, you might find some recent information in the road conditions section of this site, we were up through there in May,
Camp spots would be
Bilung Pool,
Temple Gorge, even Murchison Settlement itself was good(Powered too, really good ablutions.) It will be starting to get a bit warm then, take plenty of
water when trekking around. Hope this helps, Kanga1.

Hi Cindy,
I got just back from that similar trip last weekend.
We stayed at
Dongara then across to
Mullewa, and up thru Murchison, Gascoyne and stayed at Mt Augustus. The road was great and some of the best scenery around. Wild flowers just coming out due to recent rains. Cannot recommend the Mt Aug Caravan
Park...disgusting. Only other option is Cobra Station but apparently there is no
water there. Fuel $1.98 Unleaded.
We then drove up to
Tom Price (I love
Tom Price) and that road and trip is the best we have been on.
At
Tom Price we got a Permit and travelled up the HI rail track (more like a gravel highway!) and on to
Millstream. We stayed a Crossing Pool and it was brilliant. Then on to the coast and up to
Derby. We then returned via the coast back to Mandurah.
We are reasonably
well travelled but this was probably one of our best trips ever, although too quick as usual.
All this country is just spectacular.
Steve

Have done the trip from north to south towing a camper. We found Mt Agustus ok, its a great walk to the top.
Excellent pub at
Gascoyne Junction, camped on the front lawn with power.
All roads wide and in good nick.
Bush camps where you find them.

Ms F,
If you want to email me at jigalongjigalongATgmail.com I will send you a file of waypoints. They are kml files that can be opened in Google Earth.
We did the
Kennedy Range South to North trip four years ago and it was great.
Cheers,
Willie.
