Hi all,
Haven't posted one for a while. Just wondered if anyone has fitted a UHF in a Range Rover Sport and if so where/how was the aerial mounted. Be interested in an thoughts. Am in the final stages of fitting out the car for proper outback travel. Spare wheel carrier, decent roof rack, dual batteries, Goodyear MTRs, Aux Fuel
tank etc all sorted so far! Who said it couldn't be done?
Cheers

Hi Patrick,
I cant give you a direct answer, but you might find
AULRO a good source of help. Very good chance someone there will have been through your dilemma.
Cheers, Mark

Don't know if this will help or not.
I mounted an antenna on the spare wheel carrier of my GQ. I made the mounting bracket the same height as the roof and used a stumpy 200mm antenna. This allowed the roof to work as a ground plain. It worked
well giving good range but it was better going forward. It was also
well protected from scrub etc.
I ran the cable in the roof because the UHF was mounted in a roof console and brought it out through the rear windscreen washer jet on the rear door.
It would be easier to run the cable under the carpet for a dash mounted unit, coming out near the hinge allows you to anchor the cable to prevent ware or pinching.
Duncs.

You could mount a stubby aerial using a bracket off the roof rack. You don't need a long aerial if it is above the body of the car.
