Hi folks, I am looking for advice on the condition of the Winton to Windorah rd. The one that goes past Lark Quarry and re-joins the sealded rd just out of Jundah before going on to Windorah. I will be towing an off road caravan and am after advice on what to expect?

Also advice on Welford Nat Park, is it worth the detour as I may skip Windorah in favour of Welford???

Thanks in advance.
Trevor.

Hi Trevor,
can't help with road updates, but see the link below for NP info. Under the heading "getting there... " click on the link for mud maps to the park. Try QLD transport and main roads for road reports.

G'day Trevor

We towed Daddy Supreme Birdsville-Windorah-Welford NP a few weeks back. There are two camping areas. We stayed at Little Trafalgar, good campspot on the river. No facilities. From memory (oldtimers) think $8 per night. Get there early as you can, good spots are limited if you want to be on river. Nice for a couple of days

All the best

What are you two doing back up this way? LOL!! I thought you would still be freezing down sth somewhere.
Baby Supreme done that B/ville-Windorah stretch a few years back as well. I loved Windorah and the camps along the Cooper out there but I am not sure what to expect further north. We did not detour out to Welford last time but I think I will this time.

Are you going to St George for the gathering?

Cheers and travel safe,
Trevor.

yeah...we succombed to the cold and the lure of the mud crabs in Qld! Presently Boyne Island and will hang around in Qld until late November. Not sure yet about St. George hence we haven't made a committment. Been following the plans-looks like a great gathering coming up. We may be late starters
By the way, we didn't checkout Little Boomerang campground as caravan was hitched and it looked like a little narrow for us

Thanks for the feedback. Out of interest there is great bush camping on the banks of the Boyne Rvr at Benaraby. On the eastern side of the bridge you will have to take a steep but easily negotiated track down to river level and then just head as far east as you can for nice river front camping. Easily drop the boat in from here too. Easily take your van down there with plenty of turning circle.

Cheers, Trevor.
