Been planning a few weeks off at Christmas with me and the young lad doing a spot of fishing and looking around the coast from about South of Yalata around to about Point Bell then down onto Coffin Bay NP. Probably have a look at Cactus and Point Bell on the way around to the Peninsula. Not that familar with the area but its a good excuse to have a look around and do some beach camping away from the crowds.

Had a good look for tracks on Google Earth and topo maps and I think I have the basis for a plan but frankly I have little other knowledge of the areas. I had a look at the DEH site but it seemed a little sparse on the Nullabor areas.

I will probably have a chat to the DEH people at Ceduna on the way across to Yalata where I will probably descend along the dog fence. Other than starting from there the trip is quite flexible.

As I said I have little knowledge of the area and would be really greatfull for any tips and suggestions of whats of interest and where to go. Tracks seem ok from the Google Earth perspective but the reality could be quite different? Will be travelling solo but comms/GPS ok and enough sand experience to get myself into trouble!! No intention of beach driving unless abundantly clear tracks/access available.

If you've got any advice/comments/track files etc on the area they would be very welcome. Thanks all. Leigh

I spent plenty of time at Point Bell, me mate owned it for years.

The track coming from shady lane to the beach is quite long and sandy but really dusty. The Beach itself is good to drive on well that is the Beach that joins up to PT Sinclair near Cactus. The other Eastern side is a bit boggier.
Nice camping spots there too.

Be prepaired to let your tyres down theres a few dunes you need to drive over.

Plenty of fish there and some nice Maco's as well as some beatifull clear blue water right next to the point.

East is Davenport creek its good too! probably a little better for camping.

Theres quite a few other nice spots East past Ceduna, just trying to think of there names.
