Hi,

Planning to travel Brisbane, Cameron Cnr, Bore or Strezleki, Innaminka, Walkers Crossing, Birdsville, Boulia, Plenty to Uluru.

Then back via Sandover, Camooweal, Winton, Longreach and home.

Is there fuel at Tobermorey?

Any comments on current roads?

Winton - Lark Quarry - Longreach - any comments?

What is at Bessies castle? A Mountain?

Should I miss Longreach and come down to Welford and other places?

Cheers, Drew

Hi Drew,
NO fuel at Tobermorey.
Diesel fuel available at Boulia, Jervois, Harts Range, Gem Tree. Gem Tree will only let you have $50 of fuel for people staying at Gem Tree (enough to get to the next fuel stop). I travelled the Plenty a couple of months ago and found the road to be excelent from Boulia to the NT boarder and then average dirt road to Gem Tree. I travelled from Alice to Gem Tree via Arltunga.

About a year ago I traveled from Winton to Windorah via Lark Quarry - nice drive.

Kiwi Kia,

Gen Tree has no limit high or low on fuel and also takes EFPO credit or direct deposit. I topped up there a few weeks ago, (did not stay).

Jervois is cash only, has diesel and premium petrol only, was $1.96 when I went through.

Thanks for the update Tony.
They would only allow $50 of fuel when I was there in June (stayed over night). They said they only kept fuel as a 'service' for their campers and they did not get tanker deliveries. Woman in the office said that they take a trailer to Alice when they stock up on supplies and fill drums which they then pour into their own tank.

Hi Tony,
She was there but no it was not her. I am trying to remember what the relationship was - think it might have been her aunt (manageress / owner?) who showed us to our camp site on the motor scooter. Both very nice people. I went fossicking the next morning - cold and odd shower of light rain.

Hi delica driver,

Did the Plenty/Donohue Hwys last Monday.

Boulia to Border - perfect. Smooth as a billiard ball. Some detours around roadworks.

Border to Jervois - mostly OK, with some patches of bad corro's.

Jervois to bitumen East of Gem Tree - Crap for most of it. Long stretches of bad corro's with a few smooth patches in between. Slow right down and you'll be OK.

Cheers

Russ

We enjoyed Longreach for the Qantas Museum and S Hall of Fame. Both interesting- also school of the Air. Its interesting to see/be in a bigger regional town- its a thriving hub out there.
Lark Quarry is amazing!

Thank you all for information.

I am carrying enough spare fuel but wanted to know what my options were if required.

May keep Longreach on route.

Lark is a definite.
