We are planning a small "family"
camp in the hinterland behind Nowra in
Morton national Park or around there. It has been mentioned that there is
camping at the
dam at Yalwal. We also want a few tracks to take the city people along in the Toorak Tractors along to let them know what a buzz looking at Australia is really like.
I have a few old notes on the Tianjara Fire Trail but I am open to anything to help show off our wonderful past-time.
Personally we are self sufficient and capably trained and exercised etc in most environments. No
rock climbing or extreme stuff please. Rough roads are a pleasure.
Any ideas and is there a fee or need to book?
Thanks you in advance. Gee I hope they bring their own tents!!! Hmmmm

Danjera dam at yalwal is
free camping has
toilets, fires allowed tianjara fire trail was graded some time ago and is 2wd not 4wd scenic drive though about one third the way going south there is a turn left that winds around back in the direction of wombat flat it is very steep in
places i havent been on it for a couple of years. You may get
young people with lowered 2wd and big sterios at the dam,you could try Gradys retreat on the
shoalhaven river or coolendel a bit further on lots of tracks around the dam,old goldmines to look at.
when are you going ??

Wombat flat is another nice
camp ground, near Bundanoon....it is actually on the
old road from Kangaroo valley into the hinterland....if you like walking, there is the
old road to follow till it dissappears under
water from the backwaters of the
dam at Beehive point....now thats a real nice place to
camp if you like a canoe.....got to via Kangaroo valley and the
dam road/jacks corner road....all this is a little further north of where u r looking . There is a further
camp ground off deans
gap road, behind Nowra, that is accessable easily, is no facilities, but does not attract the hoons either....
4wding in this area can be dificulty rating 1 to 5+ ....another place
well worth the drive if you were wanting further south is
Deua national park, and Bendethra valley. Pigeon house mountain/the castle yada yada...

Thanks Andrew
Deua and
Bendethera are a little chilly for the grandchildren. We are in
Canberra and the others in
Sydney. So Nowra appears the best near the coast at this stage. It may be milder than up here.
I will look at them on a map and see how it sits with the others. We are fine and capable for most up to 4 grades. Not interested in anything above that.
Cheers
Phil
