JEEPTROUT
Hello All,
On the second week of September, I'm taking off for 8 days to explore the country but I'm a little unsure of where exactly I should head to.
I have a diesel Jeep Cherokee with a good set of tyres and I'm
well equipped with
camping gear etc and I'm a fairly experienced offroader. I'll be travelling with a mate, so two blokes means we can ruff it a little.
I'm based in
Melbourne, can anyone give me some suggestions as to where I should head to?
Idealy I'd like to stay within a radius of 800 - 1000kms from
Melbourne, I'd like to head to the outback, perhaps toward
Broken Hill - I just need to fill in the bits in the middle and to the left and right...
I'm thinking the Victorian High Country will be out of the question as tracks will still be closed until November 1st due to snow. Therefore I'd like to head for
the desert.
Any suggestions?

Just an indication of where to go and how long it takes is really up to you.
I remember back in '64, I had a brand new Mini 850 and one long weekend went from Puckapunyal to
Melbourne, picked up my (now) wife's uncle and went to
Olive Downs Station (
Tibooburra). Had one day there and turned around to head back on the Monday. Back at work Tuesday.
Was it worth it?? Bloody owth!! She's still with me. LOL
