Hi all,
Have any of you had any experience, luck or whatever with upgrading springs for these vehicles?
I have fitted supposedly heavy duty springs but they have done what Toyota springs often do, sag.
When I tow I do have a fairly high ball weight of around 180 kgs plus what may be on the tray. The trailer is single axle.
Look forward to you reply.
Cheers

I have a Bravo and had sag problems when I fit my tray camper. I solved this by fitting load assist air bags. They allow you to adjust the rear ride height then load is apllied, also give a smoother ride with camper on.Cost about $500 and fitted them myself.
Regards Murray
PS
From memory I brought them from Pro Bag in Sydney

My 76 Series LandCruiser suffered from the same problem. The easy fix but at some expense is to fit Firestone air bags. For leaf springs such as yours they fit between the chassis and the diff housing and become the primary load carrier. They are easy to fit and can be air adjusted to suit any load, they also improve the ride especially on corrugations as you are riding on air with the springs taking the secondary load. They cost around $700 plus fitting costs if you can`t do the fitting yourself. Goggle up Airbag Man for more info, I am very happy with mine.

I have upgraded the springs on my BT50 with heavy duty Ironman springs and foam shocks. These have been good, and the service from Ironman excellent.

Hi DW,

The Ironman springs I installed were the "D" rated version which are the heaviest duty they supply. You can check out the specifications on the following link:

Hope this helps. Good luck with your decision.

Geoff
