EO newsletter yesterday says “Pat Callinan's 4X4 Adventures is set for another cracking season. From the world’s whitest sands in Esperance……..”

Well I was at a beach in a small town (can’t remember name) last December on Jervois Bay NSW and they claimed the same thing – “scientifically tested as the whitest sand in the world” was their claim from memory.

Then I remember going to Tassie and all the claims about beaches being amongst the best 10 in the world, including Wine Glass Bay I think, which is spectacular from afar (lookout on walk to the beach) but very very average up close.

Am I on the mark?

Anyone else got the world's whitest sands etc? LOL

those little critters that build dams were no were to be seen on Whitehaven, but I guess the occasional white pointer could appear.

Hi All

I don't care what the Sand is like, as long as I am dragging fish out of the water over it, lets just say the sand on Fraser Isl / Teewah Bh / Moreton Isl / Nth Stradbroke Isl ect ect, I dont care, nothing like the feel of sand in your Toes lol lol.

Cheers

Have to agree Dazza, who's cares what colour the sand is as long as there is fish there. Have to agree with the original post though, many beaches lay claim to the whitest sand. Best beach ?????? Depends on what you are looking for. Just south of the blow hole at Quobba W.A. was unreal for the girls to snorkel, Israelite bay to Esperance was very clean, Cable beach was good for the camel ride but to many cigarette butts, Up north were great but the lizards are to big. Some great beaches in N.S.W but lots of big white sharks lol. So who has the best beach, it's simple..... Australia does, end of story.

Silicon Beach on the lower Kimberley Coast.

And thats from an old surfer who used to surf with people like Farrelly etc. So I know my beaches.

But then again not too many bikinis there. Oh well! Back to lady Jane Beach in Sydney Harbour!!!

And don't tell the Minister for War and Finance.

BTW-have sailed over to Pt Vincent from Adelaide many many times - tied up as close to the shore as safe and had fish and chips at the seafront caff one night and dinner at the Hotel at least once. Love Pt Vincent-it's a little bit of the original Australia. You're a lucky block whether working at Pt Vincent or Verruca - IMO

Hi Adelaide George, I didn't run into Connie but did ask after her, our friends know her but said she left that area some years ago and they were not sure where she was. Sorry about that.

Hi jdwynn

We travelled Australia for 3 years (2003-6).
We saw 5 "longest jetties in the southern hemisphere".
"Biggest in the southern hemisphere" in tourist brochures became one of our regular "Friday Funnies"!

I just don't get it these days, everything has to be the best, biggest, worst, whatever!!!!

A reporter once said of the tragic bushfires in Canberra that they were "The worst on record" he obviously had not heard of the Hobart fires in the 60's or Ash Wednesday across SA & Vic. and of sadly since then the very tragic fires this year in Victoria.

My point being, why do we need to be told that anything is the best, worst or biggest? isn't it enough to just call them all "tragic, terrible & needless" in some cases.

News presenters and others seem to need to label these events etc with such tags that are just bull s#t and debateable as it's just there opinion and not based on any facts.

How many Fish & Chip shops have you seen with "the best in Australia/world/universe" and who makes that judgement?

Thats it, I'm over it now I have got that off my chest.

Cheers Colin (owner of the best 4WD in the universe LOL)

The first shop had a sign, "The best hamburgers in the country".
The one down the road had a sign that stated "The best in the world".
Further down the road there was a sign stating "The best in the universe".
How do you top those, easy put up a sign that states "The best in the street!".

Hyams Beach at Jervis Bay, NSW.

Been there a few times and it's a lovely spot. As for the whitest sand, well I couldn't really care.

Cheers.

Hyams Beach claims the whitest sand - Jervis Bay, in NSW - beautiful spot.
While down in Tassie, Coles Bay claimed to be the first "Plastic Bag Free" town in Oz. I go down to Huskisson each Xmas and they also have a sign stating that they were the 1st "plastic Bag Free" town? Unless one was mainland oz?
