Hi to all. Just traded my non-turbo 79series c/chassis (2000 mod) on a 2006 79series RV c/chassis. The difference is absolutely mind blowing, I have had an aftermarket turbo fitted to a previous cruiser (100series) but it certainly didn't go like the RV does. I am so happy that I purchased the real thing this time, I can't wait to see how it performs in sandy conditions. I am hoping it will take it in it's stride and the Simpson will now be a do-able trek. I did have to travel to the country to find this truck as most that were available in
Sydney were not RV's. Plenty of factory turbo's but, and most are reasonably priced. But when you have your mind set on something it's hard to be persuaded otherwise, and I am so glad I waited. I will be putting it through it's paces at every opportunity I get, maybe around
Zig Zag railway and Black fellows hand
cave.

I've got at least 6 friends who have bought the HDJ79's over the past 5 years. None want the V8 - the 1HD-FTE has almost as much power and torque as the V8.
In this month's 4wdAction magazine (No 138) there's a great photo of one on the
Madigan Line (Page 48). I'll let you guess who's it is :-))
I bought
mine second hand for $41k five years ago. Reckon I'd still get at least $35k for it now.

would love to replace my 80 with one
but as you say like all toyota TDs they devalue slower than a sleeping tortoise
- something which I dont reckon is properly taken into account with the petrol v diesal decisions
