Hi all,
We are planning a trip to Karijini Nationla
Park (prob staying at
Dales Campground) the week before the school hoilidays in April '10 and then onto
Coral Bay. Can anyone who has been up to Karijini during this time can tell me generally what the weather is like and the state of the gorges.
I have been told that alot of them are closed due to fast flowing
water.
Thanks in advance
Mick

Hi Mick,
It depends entirely on the cyclone season - the gorges are great about 3 weeks after a cyclone has gone through (lots of
water, heaps of wildlife, etc). If there are no cyclones, then there is very little
water!
Cheers,
Tristan

we were up there earlier this year ( late april )
pilbara trip report
this year it was warmish during the day and cool early in the morning.
gorges were no problem as far as
water levels were concerned.
but! as mentioned above it can change depending upon the weather.
just go and take it as it comes. just being there is better than being at home ;)

We were there May 2003 Mick - no rain had fallen in the area for ages. Just watch the weather.
Well worth the visit.

I was there in May this year - no problem with
water at all. Waded in one of the gorges ok. In my opinion the 'eco'
camp was the pits. Nice
free camping up in
the gorge at Wittenoom.

Hi Mick,
I was there late March this year. I left my run a bit late with most of the
water from the cyclones already run-off, but there was still heaps of
water in the gorges and pools. The rangers close the road anyway when there's heaps of
water around, safety of the public etc etc...
The weather was beautiful; it is surely an inland paradise.
I did a short blog on it:
HERE
Enjoy your trip, I know I did...
Cheers
Alan
