Heading to
Bonshaw Weir late October, early November and am considering extending my leave so as to check out Goodiwindi, Moree and Narrabri thence back to
Sydney.
A quick Google lists two van parks at Moree. The Gwydire caravan
Park and The Mehi River Van
Park.
Not knowing the area at all I would appreciate feedback on the preferred of the two parks. We would like to leave our van unattended whilst exploring the area. I do have some recollection of posts referring to some light fingered after hour visitors.
Please note that I don't intend any disrespect to the citizens of Moree, I have come across this sort of problem in the least expected of
places. I do however prefer not to be an unnecessary temtation and so lead some one astray.

Have stayed at the Gwyder because of the Artesion pool.
Security is good and it is just past the airport.

I stayed at the Gwydir
park four nights ago. They have just opened a new 20 odd metre lap pool which is 28 degrees . The other four thermal pools are a bit warm for me.
Ring ahead though,the
park was chockers for the two nights I was there.
Good safe van
park, secure with ok facilities. Drive throughs were only available if only staying one night.

The Mehi River Van
Park has been our choice for the last two trips into Toad country, no problems and friendly folk. May stay there again on the way to
St George next week or
Lightning Ridge if the mood takes me, I dunno??

I wouldnt leave anything of value unattended in Moree.
I go there often for work with work car and had that broken into too.
Almost every house has bars on it.
I'm not trying to upset moree folk either but just tellin you like it is.
Recent rioting at night with police etc etc
I would not recommend it at all, Narrabri a better stop in that area, or perhaps try wee waa, not much there but quiet n no dramas there.

Hi Ian
We stay at the The Gwydire caravan
Park when we go to Qld never had any problems at night, haven't noticed any bars on windows none on shops either. if you want to see bars and shutters go to burke. the
park has fantastic thermal pools to soak in usually full of Gray nomads. good for your arfaritis :)

We have also stayed twice at the Gwider and had no problems, and as mentioned the pools are excellent. Lots of travellers go back there on a regular basis for the thermal pools, so I gusee that speaks for itself.
