Just reading all of what's happening with these severe storms, and forecast storms, across southern Australia.
Just hope those of our members who are now mostly on their way to St. George for the gathering can avoid any severe weather events, and enjoy a safe trip and safe and fun filled gathering.
Weather Report
Safe travels all.
Fred.

Fred,
I am hoping all EO folk are out of harms way not just those in transit.
It would be good to see a few more register for the Gathering as there is only a few more days to go till it starts LOL
I am on the road in about 32 hours :))
Cheers Kev

Luv to be there Kev, but unfortunately I will be with a hand surgeon for a torn flexor tendon in my right hand, rather than with you folks. :-(
Have a great gathering folks.

Love to go, butttttttttt we got a power supply problem. I would need an awful long extension lead to run power from here to there
Hope you all have heaps of fun, cheers....

We had a bit of a doozy dust storm today, infact it is stiill blowing like mad and real dusty at 6 pm.
I took this photo at 3.15 pm. It was so dark my solar light came on.
Yesterday, the whole of Far West NSW was without power, 5 k's of the main power line blew down.
Hope it all blows over by next week.

Dave, we were in B/H in Sept '07 during a dust storm, but nothing like that.
We were at the RFDS base, and watched a RFDS plane land after its days work, and this
young medic, got out, got on his hands and knees, and kissed the tarmac, to an almighty cheer from all who were watching. Sensational.
Stay safe out there all,
Fred.

It's hard to imagine how much skill those RFDS pilots have Fred.
They get called out in all weather, and I guess severe weather also can create emergencies for them to attend.
They turned the REX plane back to
Adelaide last night, and I assume they would do the same tonight as
well.
Got to have black coffee tonight, all the milk has blown out of the cup.

Just about right Fred, one guy rang the local radio station today to say he had three empty chains out the back.
Three dogs gone, so he put a heap of bricks on his other dog to stop him blowing away.
Good luck with the op.

I am from
Broken Hill aswell and it is horrendous here tonight. Today i walked into the shopping centre at around 3.30 and got evacuated about 2 minutes later because the fire alarms started going off (from the dust). When i walked out, it was pitch black, i couldn't see anything. The street lights and
carpark lights werent working due the time of day and even if they did, it wouldn't have done much. My 2 kids started screaming because they didn't know what was happening. Car got a good sand blasting going home. Got home with the kids and had to turn the house light on for them to see where to go to get into the house.
Still very strong winds here.
All roads in the unincorporated area around here will be closed shortly due to the weather.
Stay safe everyone.

Not likely to get any rain here in Cessnock and environs. Seems to bypass here. My garden is as dry as a dead dingos ~ ...
I am off tomorrow to do a run down the
Darling River, so hopefully things may settle down a bit by then. Still, the old 80 series is
well loaded, so it won't shift much in a gale.
Stay safe, everyone.

Hi Dave:
I will keep my eyes peeled. I am in a dark
grey 80 series with an OzPod on the roof. Looks like I am transporting the space shuttle : )
Number plate starts UCV ~~~
Ironic really, as the only bit I have broken on this beast is a CV joint, just out from
Adelaide River.

Sydney has a strong
orange hue this morning. You can taste the dust.
All flights and ferries cancelled.
Building alarms triggering from the dust.
Bizarre.

If nothing else it might give the cityslickers some idea of what it is like in the real world and what happens in drought.

Too right the woman next door was chucking a wobbly because her new black softroader now looked like it had been actually driven on a dirt road.
My comment to her was that this small inconvenience to her was someones paddock and livelihood being blown away.
I also pointed out that if it were to rain the red might get to be a permanent fixture on some parts of the car as we all know that if you get red mud on the vehicle when outback it stains really
well and is nigh on impossible to remove.

If you see some underdaks goin past they are probably
mine.
They blew off the line yesterday.
The
Packsaddle to
Tibooburra Rd is closed this morning due to dust and poor visibility.

We were supposed to get the same weather at
Alice Springs yesterday, but thankfully it was a fizzer. This is one place you do not want to be in a dust storm. Last year we had a doozy storm and the dust hung in the air for over a week. Not a lot of fun if you suffer from respiratory problems.
Cheers
Russ
