Hi All, just a quicky.

I've just registered a new MT400 on line.
Do I still have to fill in and post all the paper work supplied with the unit ?

Cheers.....Lionel.

Lionel,

No mate, if you've registered on line, thats all you need to do.
You should receive confirmation of your registration from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority in due coarse.

AMSA should also send you a sticker which is placed on the unit to confirm it is registered.
I got pulled up by the fishing Inspectors and asked to see mine - to which I replied "what sticker".
They told me I had to have one (didn't book me) and I contacted AMSA when I got home and got a reply which indicated "another one missed by the system" and they duly forwarded me one - Bill

Hi Lionel
Like above, NO. I phoned the 1800 number and gave them all my details when I purchased my new PLB 18 months ago. It did take a long time to receive the confirmation registration details back, and it is a legal requirement to stick the sticker to your PLB when you get it back. From memory, you must then re register every 2 years to keep your contact details up to date.

Cheers

Stephen

Hi Lionel,
Did your place of purchase fill in their part of the registration documentation? Your registration won't be complete until the two lots of data are matched up. I received a confirmatory email within 48 hours and the sticker within a week.

Did you notice that you can edit your comments section of the registration page to give a brief summary of dates and locations for any intended trip where you are taking your EPIRB? This allows crosschecking of info by AMSA if you need to activate your EPIRB.

I filled mine in online and they rang me later to go over it. They then send you a registration sheet that you should keep with the Epirb. Mine was registered with the marine authorities, they send out a little rego sticker about the size of a large stamp and you stick that on the unit. Not sure if it is different for land based use.?

I registered my GME MT400 EPIRB with the marine authoriys as being used in my boat or on land in my vehicle & were quite happy to do so. Was cheaper than buying 2. They wont register a personal EPIRB for marine use.

Thanks everyone,

Got an email confirming registration and a sticker was on its way.

Jon, the vendor did not put their details on the form, I just put them in when doing the registration.

Cheers....Lionel.
