hello there i have recently purchased my first 4x4 and have never been four wheel driving i have a 89 model four runner it has 31x10-50-15 tyres and what looks to be a standard
suspension set up i would like to raise it a inch or few without having to sleep in the dog house .Also could anyone recomend a good
driver training course once i have finished making a few modifications.I live in the illawarra.

Hi Digger,
The rear end is easy, I fitted Old Man Emu (OME) leafs and this gave the bum a lift of around 2" but the front is more of a problem being IFS. You can crank the tortion bars a bit but not too much as you will limit movement of the control arms before hitting the bump stops (been there, done that) and also be aware that raising the front will put more of an angle (and load) on the CV's . The best way to raise the front of an IFS truck is to change the control arms for ones that are engineered to give more height. Rancho make some for the 4Runner, but this is an expensive path.
